Experience
An experienced teacher and tutor, I'm qualified to instruct in many subjects related to English. I tutor in grammar, creative writing, and thesis writing as well as reading, literature, poetry, persuasive writing, public speaking, and social studies. As a tutor, I seek to help students not made of the mold expected of standard education and testing. I feel I can get to know my students and find out what matters to them by teaching English. I also use their own interests as catalysts for motivation and inspiration. Students are often not helped on a personal level or taught information that relates to their own lives. I try to do more than educate, but explain why subjects matter and how they relate to real life. My double major in English and Secondary Education qualified me to teach the subjects I do. I'm a graduate of Nevada State college where I taught a supplementary psychology 101 class. In college I personally tutored students in the writing section of the PRAXIS test. Currently, I tutor K-12 students in the Las Vegas school district. When not tutoring, I read and play guitar. I am in a rockabilly band and like new music and music festivals.
