Private tutor in Las Vegas, NV

Education

I received a full-tuition academic scholarship to the University of Southern California and graduated in only three years with a B.A. in Political Science and a 3.7 GPA. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Political Science-International Relations at UNLV.

Experience

I personally scored in the 99th percentile in both the SAT and ACT, and have been tutoring students of different ages in all subjects but specialize in tutoring and preparing students for any type of standardized exam, especially the SAT, ACT, and AP exams. My students had an average score increase of 350 points on the old SAT (out of 2400), 180 points on the new SAT (out of 1600), and 7 points on the ACT (out of 36). I can also offer a full money-back guarantee if your child's scores do not increase.

I will talk about myself as a person below, but first I wanted to give you a little background of my tutoring career. I have taught literally every age group in virtually every academic discipline including elementary school, middle school, and high school for the Clark County School District in English, History, Biology, Physical Sciences, and various areas of Mathematics including algebra I and II, precalculus, geometry, and trigonometry. Prior to university, I tutored my fellow high school students on taking the SAT, ACT, and numerous Advanced Placement Exams, including AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus, AP Spanish, AP English Composition & Literature, and AP World & American History and even served as a T.A. at my alma mater, the University of Southern California. I have tutored for the past ten years in various areas of study, both common and obscure. Due to my experience in receiving the highest scores (5's out of a possible 5) in multiple AP exams at Durango High School in Las Vegas, NV, including AP English, AP American & World History, AP Spanish, AP Government, and AP Biology among others, a 95th percentile on my SAT exam and an even higher percentile score on my ACT exam, I am uniquely qualified and experienced in preparing individuals to excel in test preparations resulting in exceptional pre-and-post-undergraduate exam scores. Although I am perfectly willing to tutor students in routine exams, reports, essays, and projects, I know I can be most valuable preparing high school, college students, and adults in performing exceptionally well in advanced exams such as the Advanced Placement Exams, general GRE's, ACT's, SAT's, and subject-specific GRE's, ACT's, SAT's, GMAT's, and even the LSAT's and MCAT's, as I have taken all these exams and performed well. In fact, I did well enough on the LSAT(with minimal preparation due to tutoring and teaching obligations) to gain admittance to the Boyd School of Law and receive a partial-tuition academic scholarship, the UNLV graduate school, and received a full academic scholarship to Florida State University and the University of Southern California (at which I graduated a full year early because I tested out of several required courses and completed several summer courses). On a personal level, I am the eldest of four children and the father of an autistic child and have learned to teach with patience and empathy. I have learned that while a tutor must push his students, he or she must also progress at a rate which allows the student to learn the most effectively and retain the information permanently as opposed to just absorbing information only to expel it from the mind once it is no longer needed to, for example, pass an exam or perform a speech in front of his or her class. In response to the logistics of tutoring, I am eager to work as many hours per week as possible and am available every single month year-round, day or night, online or in person. Thank you for your consideration of my application to become one of your tutors and I hope I meet your respectable standards. Thank You Sincerely, Abraham David Shebah
