Private tutor in Las Vegas, NV
Education
I am a BA Psychology graduate from the University of the Philippines (the premier state university in the Philippines - equivalent to Harvard, Yale or Princeton). My previous major was BS Physics and had a DoST merit scholarship before I transferred to a major that I loved more. I also have a Paralegal Certificate from UNLV where I also excelled in class, and although they don't really give actual grades, I would have gotten an A+.
Experience
I've been tutoring kids and adults since I was a kid myself and I used to volunteer to tutor my classmates and cousins, teaching them not just academics but also testing and studying techniques. My professional tutorials started from when I volunteered to organize and teach review classes for my highschool in order to improve the passing rates for the UPCAT, ACET and USTET (college entrance tests for the top 3 coveted universities in the Philippines). In my time, I was the only one who passed to the top campus (UP Diliman) and in a quota course, and before me it was a hit or miss for each year, so I came back and volunteered to teach/train almost every summer after my sophomore year. I taught almost every subject until another friend took it over, and I just concentrated on training them for their studying and test-taking techniques. It was fun and I've always enjoyed teaching. After more than tripling the overall passing rate of our school after that first year, and helping send 7 (instead of 1 or 0) students to the top UP campuses, my reputation was set, and I got petitions to expand our classes to the other schools in the city, and I also got private tutoring offers. We don't have SAT scores in the Philippines, but I got offered a UP Government Scholarship which is only offered to the top 50-150 placers of the very competitive UP entrance exams (the top 50 gets the UP Oblation Scholarship). UP is the number 1 university in the Philippines or the equivalent of an Ivy League university.

Hobbies
I am a geek with eclectic interests, skills and hobbies, and also a jack-of-all-trades because of these various interests. I'm a bookworm, a moviephile, a computer geek who's been assembling/disassembling computers/gadgets together and tweaking software since I was in my early teens. I am also interested in trivia, travel & geography, history, photojournalism, nature, science, music, pets, camping/survival, and volunteering in one cause or another that I'm passionate for. I'm not much into sports anymore although I do enjoy watching football with my husband, and I used to be the Captain of my highschool basketball team.
