I am an enthusiastic educator motivated by the belief that all children can be successful learners. I am skillful at involving, motivating, and leading students to achieve their educational goals. I am a strong believer that children learn in different ways and employ student-focused teaching strategies to emphasize each child's unique abilities. For the past five years, I have tutored and taught kids ranging from preschool to high school. My areas of expertise are English / Language Arts and Science, but I have extensive experience teaching all subjects through middle school. In addition to tutoring, I have homeschooled my child through his elementary education and now into middle school. During my professional career, I wrote numerous articles for publication, which required me to possess excellent writing and grammar skills. Now, I am enthusiastic about teaching all ages the importance of communicating effectively via writing and speaking, and therefore the need for a solid understanding of grammar. I have worked with many ESL students, both in the US and abroad, to develop competency in English. I have assisted many students unlock their hidden ability to read, which is particularly rewarding. I hold three advanced degrees in biological sciences and am a licensed nurse. I have 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in research and development. I have spent the past five years tutoring children of all ages to love and understand science. As a tutor, I have developed my own curriculum to help my students excel in science. I have also guided elementary and middle school students in the completion of science fair projects and helped prepare them for standardized science tests and placement tests.
