Experience

I am a graduating Masters student at UNLV studying poetry and literature. I specialize in contemporary poetry and Shakespeare, but I'm open to tutoring on a wide range of authors and styles, from fiction to screenwriting to memoir. I've taken many classes on craft, as well as literary analysis, and I've taught English composition/research methods for the last three years. I'm more than happy to help out in any of these areas, whether you're looking to write a poem for fun or writing an essay for school. I can also tutor in beginning Hebrew and Arabic (I am not fluent, but I'm good at explaining grammar, helping memorize vocabulary, and translating). Additionally, before I moved on to my masters I received my B.A in Middle Eastern Studies, and I'm qualified to help students with any political science or history assignments. Regardless of the area, the method for research and writing is very similar. If you're looking for tutoring on Mid East politics in particular, I'd love to help you out. My poetry has been published in several print and online journals, and my first manuscript is nearing completion. I have also extensively translated Israeli poetry from the Hebrew, and can assist in translation techniques and suggestions from any language into English. I have also presented my critical work (largely on Shakespeare) at a variety of conferences, most notably the World Shakespeare Congress in 2016, in Stratford-upon-Avon and London.

Hobbies

Outside poetry and literature, my interests include dance, television and film, theatre/drama, dogs, and tea. I'm a huge sci-fi geek, and can frequently be found sitting on the couch with my 3 legged pup watching Doctor Who. I'm very easy going and patient, and my primary goal in tutoring is to help you achieve YOUR goal. I want tutoring to be a fun experience, not a chore, and I'm open to trying out a variety of methods. Some students learn better with visuals, others by listening, some by repetition, and so on. I do not have a blanket approach to tutoring because each individual is different; rather, I try my best to accommodate your needs and learning technique to give you the best possible session. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this profile, and I hope to hear from you soon!
